The Cult of Da Man

fan fiction

James Morland

James is but an innocent
Who's loving is not wise
Set upon by cunning wiles
A pretty maid applies

His younger sister has more sense
Though confidence she lacks
Stands firm in what she does believe
Though even he attacks

But blame him not for this abuse
Of affection and esteem
For blind he is in every way
His life is but a dream

Though witness of a brassy flirt
He is still ready to excuse
The cruel mistress of his heart
As she continues to abuse

And in the end is only saved
From a most imprudent match
By a loosened grip on what she held
Reaching for a better catch

Dame Fortune smiles upon life's fools
Or so the saying goes
Of this James Morland knows the truth
As his discernment grows
