Henry Tilney

There's that certain Henry Tilney smile that plays upon his lips
Impish twinkle in his eye as he throws out clever quips
He's a tease who will make fun of you, he may laugh right in your face
But with tender sweet humanity, that's as soft as an embrace

Whether a chat about brocade and lace, or a discourse on what's nice
Henry does so ever with great taste (though his wit shows once or twice)
He talks of finer points of art with an undisguised pleasure
And looks upon Gothic Romances as an imaginative treasure

At his ease amongst the ladies, is he a fop or on the make?
He's a man who loves his sister, has learned to give and not just take
He truly values feminine thinking as much as he does any male
A very handsome face, well almost, but he is hearty blithe and hale

But there is more than this to Henry (who is untidy in his home)
He shoots and hunts in his great coat, with his dog he loves to roam
And his parish has it's duties to which he is naturally inclined
So though strange seems Henry Tilney, there is a whole lot in his mind
