Dearest Isabella, to Catherine you attach
Your wily effusions, her innocence can’t match
Your shared love of the gothic, is but a disguise
To gain a good ally, her brother as prize
You are not satisfied, by what you have caught
For he's not so rich, as once you had thought
You cast your net wider, Captain Tilney to snare
No naivety there, he plays without care
You try once again, James Morland to win
He is better than nothing, which would be a sin
Those months of great effort, must be repaid
But James will not listen, which makes you afraid
An appeal to young Catherine, she is such a fool
Will answer your problem, by pulling the wool
But no, she ignores you, the effort’s in vain
There’s nothing to do but start over again!
